The medics are home! They landed in Bulgaria at approximately 10:00AM today (24 July) on board of the airplane of the French President. They were accompanied by the First Lady of France, Mrs. Cecilia Sarkozy, as well as the EU's External Relations Commissioner Benita-Ferrero Waldner.

The presidential decree for their pardon was announced shortly after their arrival (as they were still sentenced to life at that time).

8 years ago there was a scandal in Libya - hundreds of kids were found out to have been infected with HIV. Instantly, international medics - doctors, nurses, etc. - were blamed for purposefully infecting the children. Most countries managed to withdraw their medics from the country.

However, 7 people could not escape and were FALSELY blamed with the inhuman act of purposefully infecting hundreds of children. Those were 5 Bulgarian nurses, 1 Bulgarian doctor and 1 Palestinian doctor. The Bulgarian doctor was later released from prison. HOWEVER, the Bulgarian nurses and the Palestinian doctor have recently been SENTENCED TO DEATH.

Many institutions, professionals and even LUMINARIES OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION have researched the case and have PROVEN a number of times that the infection has been present for years, long before all of the international medics had gone to the hospital in question. Dr Luc Montagnier, one of the DISCOVERERS of HIV has studied the case and concluded that the said medics have, in fact, NOTHING to do with the infection. It has been proven, over and over again, that everything stems from the conditions of the hospital system in Libya.

It was yesterday, FEBRUARY 9th, the day that marks the 8th year of the medics' stay in custody. Tens of thousands of Bulgarians gathered across the country to support the medics. The issue has gathered as many people as the changes in the early 1990s (break from communism), if not more.
